Punch Taverns is creating a new division to help its struggling pubs.

Punch Taverns: restructuring leased division

The move is part of a restructuring of the leased estate that will mean a reduction in the number of regional operation directors.

A statement from Punch said: "As we announced in our statement [to the market] earlier this month, one of our main priorities is to focus on reducing our overheads. As a result, we have today announced that we will be making a number of changes to our leased operations structure and our central support teams.

"As a result, our leased business will move from eight to four operating divisions in our core estate.

"A new division will be created to drive additional focus on our more marginal pubs operating in difficult market conditions."

The statement said a new contact centre team called the Punch Contact Centre would be created, combing the services currently provided by The Hub, Frontline and Telesales.

"In addition, there will be a number of changes within our Property, IT and Group HR teams which will allow us to improve the service that we deliver to our customers and pub teams.

"We are continuing to consult with a number of central support teams and will keep them informed of our proposals on an ongoing basis."
